Introduction
KANCHENJUNGA: This region was opened for trekkers in 1998 only but lots of mountaineering groups were already accessing this route for their attempt to summit the mountain. This region is largely inhabited by Rai and Limbu who are known to be very friendly people. It is a very long way from Kathmandu and is also one of the most difficult trekking areas since nothing is available such as lodge, tea houses or any essential material for trekkers. Therefore, trekking in this region can be done only through organised camping group will full gears and food stuff carried all the way from Kathmandu. The permit to trek in this region is given by the Immigration office to groups only.
